Lawrie comes from an artistic family, with his father and brother both accomplished artists.
His career took him away from Art, but now he is able to follow his passion, namely all things Art.
Lawrie is a watercolourist at heart, loving the clarity and freshness of the medium, the transparency of washes, vibrancy of glazes and the uncertainty of painting "wet in wet".
That's before he gets to the benefits of happy accidents.
In recent years he has introduced a variety of mixed media into his work, using pen and wash, various ink products, charcoal, acrylic and many of the newer products which have come to the market.
He has particularly embraced the development of the Ipad in art, given respectability as a genuine art medium by David Hockney. Lawrie loves the immediacy of the Ipad, ease and speed by which he can draw or is it paint, the simplicity of layering colours, and the brilliance of the colour palette.
Adapting some of his own work to digitalisation is proving a very creative method of changing and enhancing paintings and drawings which he avidly follows.
Together with this he dabbles in Contour Art, and Container photography.
